Myoptik’s long-running series of densely populated compilations continues with Musical Mastication Volume 4, and we think this one is even more tasty than its predecessors. It has been slow-cooked to enhance the flavour, bringing the freshness to your floor.

As with previous volumes it is a diverse set with many ingredients, but this time all the artists have an electronic focus, albeit there is much evidence of musicianship throughout. There’s plenty of thought-provoking elements too; seasoning for your mind.

Like previous volumes of Musical Mastication many great and renowned artists are included, and overall there’s a wonderfully consistent narrative that runs throughout the beautiful music. The sounds are believed to enrich the experience and effectiveness of smoky fires, chaise longues, gallant shire horses, steam trains, pince-nez, strobe lighting, neon clothing, acrobatics, strong cheese, Russian dwarf hamsters, reference audio, mental therapy, high-speed dancing, vegan curry and magic carpets, none of which are included with the download, but don’t let that put you off using them when you close your eyes and zone out to the highly-crafted sounds.

Best served for hours and hours in a cool space, with no socks, where you can move freely and with appropriate abandon.
